DECREE OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC No. 168 of August 4, 2015 The principle of equivalence and adaptation of the technical requirements for the application of the optional test mark (conformity mark ITALIA TURRITA)

Recognition of the ITALIA TURRITA Mark by countries which are members of the Vienna Convention, as well as by France and Spain.

ITALIA TURRITA and the “Equivalence Principle" with the Vienna Convention

As defined by the Presidential Decree no. 168 of August 4, 2015, a company may request the analysis of the compliance of its products and the affixing of the conformity mark "ITALIA TURRITA" (the Optional Test Mark) to the competent Chamber of Commerce for the territory, which makes use of an accredited laboratory (ISO / IEC 17025) for the certification of the title of precious metals and subsequent hallmarking.
With the entry into force of said decree, the so-called "Principle of Equivalence" is enshrined; due to this principle, Italian goldsmith companies finally have the option to carry out assays on jewelry in the manner that was previously reserved only to foreign assay offices. In this regard, countries such as France already recognize the ITALIA TURRITA mark as equivalent to their own national mark (see the website of the French Ministry of Customs
